D.C. Maxwell is an alt-country singer-songwriter from Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand.

With the frenetic energy of a punk preacher, Maxwell puts a new spin on the 1970s outlaw country of Lee Hazlewood, Townes Van Zandt and the unconventional kiwi songwriting of Chris Knox and Don Mcglashan.

A troubadour, a magnetic performer, but foremost a storyteller, Maxwell’s live show see’s him physically embody each of his song’s characters with passion. The mosaic of his songs creates a world of love and loss in roadside motel rooms, and the inner lives of small town dreamers majestic as the plains.

His debut album, Lone Rider is 10 songs of love, anguish, and horses. Each track is a vivid tale, covering stories of bank robbers, horse thieves and grieving lovers.

Produced by Peter Ruddell (Sulfate, Wax Chattels) and featuring a cast of premier New Zealand musicians such as Hariet Ellis (Na Noise), David Harris (Princess Chelsea), Elizabeth Stokes (The Beths), Dave Khan (Marlon Williams, Reb Fountain), J-Y Lee (Avantdale Bowling Club) and Charmian Keay.
