Distant Call, is a collection of early demos of songs that would subsequently appear as finished productions on the albums Haha Sound, Tender Buttons and The Future Crayon.

The album also includes two songs discovered by James after Trishā€™s passing: ā€œCome Back To Meā€ and ā€œPlease Call To Bookā€. These were her response to Broadcastā€™s 2006 ā€˜Letā€™s Write A Songā€™ project, where fans were asked to submit lyrics on a postcard which would then be worked into a finished song.
