Richmond, Virginia-based songwriter Kate Bollinger uses every inch of her dazzling new collection to find her footing amidst the ever-present sways of life. Bollinger’s musical universe is relaxed, tender, and unassuming; within lives a timeless sensibility, a songwriter’s knack for noticing the little things and their counterpoints. Darkness and light, pain and pleasure, reality and escape. These all have space to be seen on Look at it in the Light, a six-song project that finds Bollinger and a cast of collaborators focusing on clarity of sound, evoking the lush folk-pop of the ’60s and ’70s. Her early work has seen acclaim from the likes of The New York Times, NPR, and Gorilla vs. Bear, and she’s just now arriving at her first-ever label release, joining Ghostly International to share Look at it in the Light in the spring of 2022.
